25-Minute Ground Turkey & Broccoli Rice Bowls

Ground turkey and broccoli cook in one skillet with a mild soy-honey sauce, then land over warm rice for a fast family bowl with easy separate-component serving.

Your Weeknight Card

  • Total time: 25 minutes
  • Active prep: 10 minutes
  • Cleanup: 1 skillet + bowls
  • Estimated cost: Budget–moderate
  • Kid flexibility: High
  • Leftovers: Very good · 3 days

Why it fits tonight: Ground turkey cooks quickly, broccoli shares the skillet, and the bowl format lets kids keep rice, turkey, and vegetables more separate if needed.

Why It Works Tonight

This gives ground turkey a lighter bowl format instead of another cheesy skillet. Ready rice keeps the clock short, and the sauce is mild enough to add extra heat only at the table.

25-Minute Ground Turkey & Broccoli Rice Bowls Recipe

Serves: 4 · Prep: 10 minutes · Cook: 15 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 3 cups small broccoli florets
  • 3 cups cooked rice or two microwave-ready rice pouches
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon water

Pantry basics: 1 teaspoon neutral oil if needed and black pepper. Optional for adults: chili sauce or sliced green onion.

Instructions

  1. Mix the sauce. Stir soy sauce, honey, garlic, cornstarch, and water together in a small cup.
  2. Cook the turkey. Heat a large skillet over medium-high. Add turkey and cook for 6 to 7 minutes, breaking it into small pieces, until no pink remains.
  3. Add the broccoli. Stir in broccoli with 2 tablespoons water, cover for 2 minutes, then uncover and cook until crisp-tender.
  4. Glaze. Pour in the sauce and stir for 1 to 2 minutes until glossy and lightly thickened.
  5. Build the bowls. Spoon rice into bowls and top with turkey and broccoli. Keep components separate for picky eaters if helpful.

Safety note: Ground turkey should reach 165°F (74°C). Refrigerate leftovers within 2 hours.

Make This Card Fit Your Night

Picky-Eater Move

Set aside plain turkey and broccoli before adding the sauce, then serve everything in separate sections over rice.

Make It Cheaper

Use frozen broccoli and leftover rice. Both work well here and can lower the total cost.

Use What You Have

Frozen mixed vegetables or green beans can replace broccoli. Brown rice or quinoa can replace white rice.

Leftovers Tomorrow

Refrigerate for up to 3 days. Reheat until steaming hot. The bowl also works well for lunch with cucumber or shredded carrots added cold after reheating.
